Bridesmaid Dress Trends 2023
So the search begins! Finding the perfect dress for your entourage of girls to take the perfect picture on your wedding day. Depending on how many bridesmaids you have this can be a fun or sometimes stressful experience. Here are some awesome trends we are seeing in 2023
BOYD Bridesmaids
The biggest trend we’re seeing is the mismatching bridesmaids, but with the twist of letting your bridesmaids choose their own dress.
Some brides like this option because it allows for photos to be more dynamic and really pop. I personally love this idea because it allows your bridesmaids to do most of the work to find their dress which they are more likely to spend more time and energy searching for.
If you plan to do this I suggest putting some parameters around their search. It could be as loose as showing them a few colors that are in your wedding theme or as specific as finding a certain material and assigning who wears a solid vs pattern based on the order they walk down the aisle. Start a vision board that includes colors, patterns, and materials you like. Share it with your girls and see what they come back with. It’s more fun having them come to you with suggestions than putting 20 dresses in front of them and no one can agree.
Velvet in Spring
Yes, you read that correctly. Velvet is no longer just for fall and winter but it’s dipping its toes into spring weddings. Depending on where you are getting married this could be good for summer if it’s not too hot. Velvet is a very beautiful material and now can be found in pastels that are super romantic and fit perfectly with a garden theme wedding.
I love this trend because your photos will look so dynamic with the contrast bright flowers against the iridescent velvet material. It’s absolutely stunning!
Love the idea but find the fabric to be too rich? Try having it be a material for your mismatched bridesmaids. Mixing it with silks and patterns will be a great way to build some contrast.
Maid of Honor Call Out
Another great trend is to get the same color for all your bridesmaids, but then get a different color or pattern for your maid of honor. This is a great way to have her stand out of the crowd and honor her as your best mate.
I love this for brides with sisters that they want to have stand out more or just find themselves to be more sentimental.
Plan a special day with your maid of honor to find her dress. Take this time to have a 1:1 girl time to discuss all your wedding jitters or worries and how she can best support you. It’s a special time you will look back to fondly.
Bright and Bold!
Some brides are embracing bright colors for their bridesmaids in the form of yellows, pinks, crimson, and fuchsia. This is a fun option for brides who are doing a summer wedding.
Love, love, love especially if you are by the sea. Your photos will really pop and everyone at the wedding will know who is team bride.
Adding brights will certainly leave an impression on your guest and will defiantly bring in warmth and fun to the occasion.
